Rottnest Marathon fun
Strava data is here
Lots of photos when I have a spare $40 to buy them. Some good ones too...
Got a $55 discounted Sealink ferry ticket, and some mates gave me a bed in their house. Was a fun!! weekend, and did some good racing, just not consistent enough throughout the race... some big bad patches that destroyed any chance of a sub 4, a sub 4.15 or a PB attempt (3.49)... First race in the secondhand Vaporflys, and by far one of fastest shoes in the world to run in. Calf muscles felt a bit tireder than normal afterwards, probably because of the extra pushoff in these shoes, especially on downhills... Especially at the start when I began at about 3.20 per K speed, it feels a bit like you are an aircraft taking off... Awesome to see Vlad there (he got 2nd in 2.47), after following his incredible start at UTA100km a few weeks ago. The star of the day though was Gerard Hill 2.28 record!, and Tony Smith 2.50 for 3rd, Tina Ingrahm the Ladies winner in 3.08, KIrsten Buist 3.12, Claire Broadway 3.15... Nera Jareb half marathon record in 1.19!... Kevin Matthews 2.57 for his 7th sub 3 at Rottnest and 12th finish there in marathon 44. Ken Dacre with his 26th Rottnest, and Daryl Howe in about his 16th? Rottnest... some of the standout performances of the day.
My back half very sluggish though...
