Nocturnal 200min run
Evening recovery run, 45min 51 secs, about 6.5km, very hilly in spots, exploring the local paths, roads, trail, and a lap of oval near our house. Ran by a large lake, which looks like it would have to be Tiger snake infested. Also found a grass track nearby, so know where to go to do reps now, and hopefully can start ramping things up a bit in future weeks, instead of losing the plot...Discovered some magical views at one point, where you can see the ocean, Perth city, and the hills so basically almost a 360 degree panorama!!! Pretty pathetic run, but hard to tell cos of the hills, and basically just trying to to get rid of any residual stiffness from last nights 28km...
Saturday 7th February 2050hrs start;
Ran about 28km in 3hrs 20min with D mostly on limestone trails, with a little bitumen at the end. Cramped
up towards end and lapsed into grind planetarium mode. Some niggles from gluteal upper thigh area (same as before Melbourne 2008), and ankle, knees tender/touchy but ok...
Full moon, trains whizzing past, rabbits, kangaroos aplenty, used my handheld LED light. Huge thanks to D for inviting me along. Very slow pace for D, so huge thanks to him for putting up with slow me...Helps to consolidate on last weeks long run, after a horrendous week moving house...I reckon I drove well over 1000km this week, and worked a 13 hr+ day Friday, plusd the house move was a very big mission much harder than I expected in some ways. Hopefully some sense of normality next week to return, but its a lovely house much bigger nice views, a step up for Kathryn Jacob and I so a blessing in many ways! Rent increase of $125 a week though so I really am going to have to work my butt off this year if its going to work well...less time for internet too as a result...Nocturnal!!!!!!!!!!

Jon, best of luck with the new place. Maybe you should swap footy teams as well :).
Best of luck with Matilda Bay if you do it, at this stage I'm not going to but will see how the week goes.
Cheers
Thanks Clown...why would I want to swap to a team that lost by 52 points last night, and since I am now south of the river (which is Dockers Heartland!), I am even closer to Fremantle oval, heck I won't be swapping teams, but maybe I'll become a fully paid up Fremantle member and duck down to Fremantle Oval to watch training since it is now so close...
I'm not expecting much at Matilda Bay if I get there, but just keen to get that racing feeling again, see where I am at...see how far I have slipped...
Sounds like a great place with trails, hills, nearby track, and scenic views.
I really envy you, mate!
Looks like a good move Jonathon. The tiger snakes will make for some fast reps!
The night run sounds brilliant. What's grind planetarium mode? I should try that one day - not GPM, but a night run on the trails around here with a full moon.
Thanks for the comments O legendary ones.
Looking forward to exploring the trails around here a bit more soon, and my new track for reps looks like a pretty good one.
Hopefully the tigers wont get in the way while doing reps but they certainly would supercharge the adrenalin if I saw one, maybe I should find one and stare at it before doing reps to fire me up to a higher intensity *LOL* hahaha
Ewen I carried a handheld LED torch which I can recharge by winding the handle (think I got it from Dick Smiths) for the shady bits where the full moonlight wasn't so good, and my running mate had a headlamp.
Grind planetarium is a Mortification song which I have thought of often since about 1993, as the mood in the song (and on youtube) reminds me a lot of the way I feel when my run turns to a jog, and my jog turns to a shuffle, which is barely running, i.e. the muscles don't want to run anymore...so if I am shuffling at 8min per km or slower I call it grind planetarium mode cos its a grind to keep going at all, and the mood of that song fits the way I feel at that point emotionally and physically...
hope to hear about a moonlight run soon.
SlingRunner and Clown all the best with your climb back to the top!
