Amazing racing and training adventures on roads and mountainous/hilly TRAILS, freewaybikehike and triathlons. Dreams of a SIX FOOT 45km finish,(DONE 2011,2013,2014,2015!),then ULTRA-TRAIL AUSTRALIA (50km DONE 2016! 100km DONE 2018!!!), memorable Melbourne Marathon and Gold Coast racing. Over a decade dreaming of a SUB 3HR MARATHON, sub 18min 5k, sub 38min 10k, sub 90min Half marathon etc...(shattered? or still realistic?)

PHATrunners The best trail running group in Perth!!!! Honoured to be on the K1K badge board.
Cool running is one of my favourite places to be since about 2004, its where I started the trailblazer777 nickname maybe (its hard to remember now)...awesome place to interact with other runners online...
Perth Trail series Fantastic series of races for beginner and intermediate trail runners on some of the toughest trails in Perth... A PTS race is often a pre-cursor to a major ULTRA TRAILS race...
the 12km was the original event which I first did in 1997, see my city to surf page,
they added a 4km, a half marathon and in 2009 the marathon, which I did.
C2S is 2nd biggest race in Australia, and on track to be become the biggest race in the world.
Amazing!
46km trails race ive done it a few times since it began in 2005. The wild west version of 6 foot, but probably not as hard, and about 50 times smaller fields...although its gathering momentum and numbers with international entrants in 2008 and huge improvements in 2009...Bronze labelling by the IAU in 2010!!
Race report for my 4.15.59 (half in 1.53) CITY 2 SURF Marathon in 2010 is HERE.... Scroll down past the video for photos of me from the 2010 C2S Marathon...
Pause this video at 46-47 seconds and you can see me running with the front bunch of Kenyans and Mark Tucker on the weekend, with white strands shirt, gold cool running hat on backwards, I am on the far right of picture...If you have trouble getting it to load, run your mouse over the bottom right hand corner and click on the youtube icon to open the video in a new window directly on youtube...
That's a better one! How far into the race was it? Anyway, good going to be up in the lead bunch of a marathon. Still, might be worth holding back on the TV race start exposure on 10/10/10. Could harm the PB prospects.
:-) I'd say the 47second grab is about 100m into it. I changed down gears at 1min 38 on my wristwatch, so probably stayed with them for about another 300-400m after that footage at 47 seconds, so let them go at about 500m. Last year stayed with them for 800m, but couldn't be bothered smashing myself for as long this year. Good exciting fun. On 10/10/10 very different ballgame for many reasons, for a start you have a huge number of elites and preferred start people in front of you and about 10 times as many sub 3 hour and 50 times as many sub 3.20 people to fight your way through at the start, so without a preferred start its probably not possible on 10/10/10..too many people to work through. And as you say the PB prospects is the main goal on 10/10/10 whereas PB prospects very slim at C2S due to the hilly course, and my lack of focus on the event. If I could run sub 3 I think going after the big money on offer at the C2S would be a worthwhile goal. For 10/10/10 I will be planning to settle into the right pace early. For the C2S it was all about good fun and a solid training hitout.
