new shoes so 27km run restart in 2hr 52
Splits 1.23/1.23 (+ 6 minute drink stop at my 13.5km turnaround point on sawyers Rd). 2hr 52 is about 3 minutes faster than my last effort on this course in May 2007;

and 12 minutes faster than my first effort in September 2006 on this 27km course,

so I may be hitting a better level of fitness, not sure, too hard to tell from one isolated long run.
Fell asleep on the couch while watching the footy at 2100 last night after a long day and 3 hrs sleep the night before. That worked well in the end cos I woke up really early as a result about 0345, and I had two choices go back to sleep or get ready for hills group run, and I chose the latter. Put 2L of water in my hydration pack, and a strawberry blast gatorade, said goodbye to my wife Kathryn and baby Jacob who were both half asleep and cranked up one of my demon hunter CD's as I headed towards destination Darlington.
Still managed to arrive a bit late, and disorganised, as the groups were running off, and managed to jump in with the last of the runners in Terry and Phil B. who are both Comrade-ers, and also sub 3.30 marathoners. Ive seen Terry around a lot before in the running scene in the hills, and Phil B's name is a regular in WAMC results. Ran with them for about 35minutes, and then started to find the going a bit hard so backed off the pace a little, still managed to go through 9.5km in Mundaring in 60minutes, and ran most of the way around 5.50-7min per km. Heaps of frogs and winter brooks. Was just so wonderful to be out there!
This run ensures for now, that I don't lose too much of the endurance base I built up in March to July, and with a half marathon split of 2hr 13 (2hr 07min if you take out my drinks break), I am ready for C2S Half next weekend. Some reps would be the next move, if i want to go after a time there. Although I think the Perth Half Marathon is the one I would try to beat my PB in.
First run in 6 weeks, and its been 7 weeks since I ran in the hills. Its great to be back!

Sounds like a nice run with the Hills group. Haven't ran with them for ages. Rob Bradsell and I will be running the C2s HM as training run on Sunday, so see you there.
